More infoWeather- and climate-related extremes caused losses of 738 billion Euros in the EU over the last 40 years, with 22% of that occurring in 2021-2023.
Worse still, only 20% of that was insured, leaving many exposed to catastrophic risks and putting enormous pressure on public finances.
To help close this gap, the SOTERIA project is investigating why so many people remain uninsured despite growing awareness of climate risks—and supporting development of novel insurance products for a changing world.
