Enter the EU-funded ICARIA project. Led by Beniamino Russo, Professor of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, this ambitious initiative is pioneering asset-level modelling. Their aim? To help regions understand not just isolated hazards, but the complex chain reactions that can unfold when climate disasters overlap.
To learn more, we caught up with Beniamino at the 2025 European Climate Change Adaptation conference in Rimini, Italy. He explained how ICARIA empowers local and regional decision-makers with the tools to:
- Analyse the combined impacts of multiple, simultaneous hazards
- Quantify the true cost of “business as usual” versus proactive adaptation
- Collaborate with local communities and stakeholders to ensure adaptation strategies are practical, well-received and tailored to real-world needs
Learn how to stay one step ahead of climate change.
